There are many beautiful countries with huge potential, but not many countries have such potential as Slovakia - our small country in the heart of Europe.
In Slovakia you can find lovely natural wonders, caves, unique thermal spas, medieval castles, cultural sights as well as sacred pilgrimage places, primeval forests, or our speciality - bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese).

* There are 12 935 km of marked tourist paths ##obr_2_vpravo##, considered to be the most extensive network in Europe.

* There is also Krásnohorská Cave (jaskyňa) which boasts one of the tallest dripstones at 3.6 m tall, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.

* And the oldest European public park - The Janko Kráľ Garden (Sad Janka Kráľa) in Bratislava, 1776.

* And the High Tatras - famous as the lowest among the worlds highest mountain ranges.

* In Slovakia, you can also find the Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce - the first in the world and only one of its kind in Europe.

* And in Košice, you can find the easternmost western-style cathedral in Europe - St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Košice. ##obr_3_vpravo##  

* And did you know that according to the archaeological findings, during prehistoric times, mammoth-hunters had once settled near the hot thermal springs in Piešťany?

* And another interesting fact is that when Christopher Columbus reached the shores of Cuba, his ships were carrying copper bars that had been mined in Špania Valley (Špania dolina)!!!

* There are about 150 medieval castles in Slovakia. One of the most visited is Orava Castle, also known as the "eagle's nest" because of its location.



* There are 6 areas in Slovakia listed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.


* Did you know that the Ochtinská Aragonite Cave is the only aragonite cave in Europe?


* Prešov is the third biggest town in Slovakia and nearby you can find the Dubnické opal mines, where the biggest opal in the world was discovered)

* Slovakia also offers its tourists the archaeological open-air museum of Celtic culture, which is situated near the Liptovská Mara water reservoir.


* And did you know there are more than a thousand mineral and thermal springs in Slovakia?

* In the Andrássy Family Manor House in Betliar among the exquisite furniture, trophies and library with medieval artifacts, you will also get a chance to see a mummy!

* And in Levoča, you can find the highest, late-gothic, wooden altar from the beginning of the 16th century in the Church of St. Jacob (Kostol sv. Jakuba) in Levoča - masterpiece by the master craftsman Paul of Levoča.

* And the composition and properties of the water at the thermal spa in Podhájska is similar to that of the water in the Dead sea.

* And the best preserved folk architecture landmark conservation area in Vlkolínec, between Ružomberok and Banská Bystrica, is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and is still inhabited - it is still home to the original inhabitants.

* And did you know that in the surrounding area of Trnava, in the prehistoric fort Molpír near Smolenice cannibals allegedly once lived...?

* And one more attraction - did you know the Pieniny National Park, a bit further behind the High Tatras, is the first international park in Europe? And all visitors will undoubtedly be taken away by the experience of rafting on traditional wooden rafts on the Dunajec River.
